May be you will find that the Grand Canal is a bit empty. It was my

opinion too and I have made another shot when a vaporetto is passed.

But because of the exposure time (10") this one makes a pale

elongated shape on the river, not very pretty. And after all, I find

it not so bad as it is. What do you think ?

I think it is very good. Especially the light and the colours coming from the long exposure. I like taking photos like this to get new light out of ordinary.

Great capture Henri. Great mood, perspective, lighting and clarity. I have been there as well and it's nice to see a different picture capturing a time when there is not the hustle ... very peaceful image of a magical place. Great work!

The composition is tried and true for sure, but the exposure and overall mood are outstanding. One of my favorite places. Thanks.

Wonderful composition. I really like the blue, it reminds me a little of the tint Extachrome used to give during long exposures. Nice work.

I love this pic..viewing longer the better it gets... thats a good sign. The blue tint adds a flavour but not a coldness. Shapening has been done prudently as well as contrast and makes the pic enjoyable....just one point, i question the levelness, but that could be optical...very pretty 7/7

Hi,

First and foremost it's a nice shot. What film did you use? Was the exposure time 10 seconds with a tripod. If I use an exposure time of ten seconds with a tripod I still get camera movement... How do you do the light metering for more ten seconds? Any tips?

Thank you Walter. The film used was the Fuji Fujicolor Superia Reala ISO100 as indicated in the technical details. I don't understand how you can get camera movement if you use a tripod. You can do very longer exposures without movements if the tripod is well stable. The light metering for more than 10 seconds is not a problem if there is no variations of light during this time, and at this moment of day, the variations of light are not very strong.

Outstanding picture for one of tourists' favorate places! I love the blue tone in contrast to the warm decorating lights, which form two curves leading along the canal.
