thomas_turk 0 Posted November 17, 2004 Rules of thir? Lavour of the week? C'mon, these are made up all the time, have any artistic value, and nned to be ignored. However the composition is neither strict nor clear.. and ...the clouds are lacking in contrasts, definiton and natural colors..I wonder why???? Link to comment
michaelseewald 237 Posted November 17, 2004 Wrong, the rules were not just 'made up' as you might suggest, the masters from centuries learned what worked and what did not. Too many people out there are in denial. This image is NOT 'poor' because the rule was broken. Actually, it's almost been followed and works quite well. The downfall is in the lack of detail in the dark parts of the sky and in the rocks. Seperation in this is what would have give it 7's, which at this point are not deserved. Lots of nice seperation in the water and nice dark reflections though. Close but no cigar... Blessings, MS Link to comment
marina-cano 0 Posted November 18, 2004 My english is not very good. I would like to say a lot of ideas. Yes, there isn't rule of third. Because rules are not always perfect. In these photograph I want to see sky and reflection 50%, like a mirror. In the middle by the way. Thanks for your comments. Michael, thanks but I don't smoke. Link to comment
marina-cano 0 Posted November 18, 2004 Gracias Alberto, es una de las mas bonitas. Me alegro de que te traiga buenos recuerdos. Link to comment
michaelseewald 237 Posted November 18, 2004 Actually, the balance works well as it's more like 60/40, darkness at the bottom to lightness on the top. True, it's not thirds, and in this case to cut off the top to create the thirds would ruin the balance, which is of bottom line importance. Blessings, MS PS Glad you don't smoke, I don't either, not any more. Link to comment
juan_martinez 0 Posted November 18, 2004 I like the composition. In an image such as this the 'rule of thirds' really doesnt apply, since the object is to create a duality of light and dark. neverthless, I would like to see more detail in the dark areas in the center. Even then you managed to capture the colors nicely! Congrats! Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted November 19, 2004 Dramatic and eye catching color, but I agree I want to see more detail in the highlighted area on the right of the image and other dark areas. It's just not there. Link to comment
