aepelbacher 0 Posted November 13, 2004 Took a small plane ride over the Carson Valley in Nevada and Lake Tahoe. I loved the experience, and was so excited about how some of these shots turned out. I played a bit with the color and saturation. I figure that this one is somewhat of an abstract. What do you think? Link to comment
DavidRabinowitz 8 Posted November 13, 2004 great aerial view, there's an article in one of my mags of an photographer that uses aerials to display abstract qualities to the landscape..this reminds me of that..if you want his name or article, i dig it out for you..David...6/7 Link to comment

colin carron 58,916 Posted November 13, 2004 Good shot! I like the patterns made by the old meanders of the river and the straights of the river and road. Link to comment
sef1664877429 0 Posted November 13, 2004 Well, not sure about it qualifying as an abstract, but don't really care, cause this is great. The main straight lines of the river and the road contrasted with the curves of the dried-up ox-bow lakes( what's the proper term for them, again?). I also like how the land below the river is the part that's dry and largely wasted, but across the other side, closer to the roads and fields( or whatever they are) is lusher. Almost as though man has used and left that part, and has moved to the other side of the river, with fresh promises of fertility, before wasting it as well. O.K., maybe I'm stretching. jayme 0 Posted November 13, 2004 Really neat and interesting shot. I love aerial views! Love the colors, the shading makes it almost an abstract. Super. Link to comment
WJT 627 Posted November 13, 2004 I hope everyone looks at this in the LARGER VIEW. This is great Lou Ann. I am SO glad you shot it with the Velvia; the contrast, color, and sharpness in the details are perfect. It is not the typical "out of the window" photograph. There is a wealth of visual interest that makes this truly enjoyable. Very nice work and rates one of my 77's. Regards. Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted November 14, 2004 This might not be an abstract, but it's a really well done aerial. The backlit landscape has so much texture and detail in it. I like how the river runs diagonally through the frame. You definitely didn't waste the opportunity here. ^_^ Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted November 14, 2004 Welcome back. I like what you did with color and saturation, and composition, and the fact that you got out on the wing of an airplane to take this picture (LOL). Link to comment
baldurbirgis 0 Posted November 14, 2004 Well seen, like an abstract. One of your best landscape. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted November 14, 2004 You are far braver than I am, Lou Ann. I don't like flying, so any shots I would take would have major blur and not from the plane, but from me shaking in my boots! Nice abstract effect and I like the color saturation. Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted November 14, 2004 I really like this one. Did you have to shoot it through a window? If you did, then you achieved excellent clarity. If you didn't, it still looks very nice. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted November 14, 2004 Thanks, y'all!! I had a BLAST on this ride. I've never been in a plane this small before - little 2 seater. All the shots you'll see from this ride (several more to come) were shot through a window. It was a spectacular ride, and once they got me up there, I could have spent the whole day exploring!!
