salvatore.mele 1 Posted November 11, 2004 In the Swiss Alps, below a rock face, looking up toward a small glacier desperatly melting in the heatwave of August 2003. Drops (tears?) in the wind. Your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated! Link to comment
sef1664877429 0 Posted November 12, 2004 Context is the problem here, I think. If you hadn't have told me what the situation was, I wouldn't have known what it was. I like it, but I like it because I know what it represents. I have tried another crop, but not sure its any good. I thought that the rock face underneath the spray, as it falls away, creates to much energy that works against the more gentle lines everywhere else. Of course this could be a good thing, as there is a 'violent' aspect to the image with the melting of the ice. See what you think, away. Some contrast adjustments, brought out more shadow detail and slight saturation increase, as well. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted November 14, 2004 Stephen, thanks again for your time. Now, this is funny, since your crop basically looks like the full image I had to start with! I had another 30% to the right of drops, which a shape which is basically the one you re-arranged. I had decided to change that image since I preferred the way the drops would end up in the corner, going out mostly through the side of the picture -suggesting the idea of the wind- rather than mostly through the bottom of the picture, suggesting the idea of gravity. Insofar the water is concerned, here, I wanted indeed to convey the feeling the wind was carring it away, like gravity had a small role in all the story. Link to comment
owp 0 Posted November 29, 2005 I like the original uncropped version. I would title this "Global Warming - The Mountains Are Crying" or something like that. I like it very much. Link to comment
YKV 1 Posted November 14, 2006 Snow "dust" looks overwhelming at first glance. At second, the picture grows into piece of Photo Art. Clever and very artistic. Link to comment
