Any ideas on improvement would be appreciated

technically very good. some artefacting, presumably from the jpeg or the scan as opposed to a digital capture artefact. but there's something about the bird that looks fake. i'm not saying it is, just that the beak and eyes look that way.

Hi Dan, I just noticed that this morning, I did no sharpening on this image, and the original doesnt have any artefacts at all. I'm going to assume that its the upload to photo.net that has caused it. (ed) I just had a look at the enlarged version, it doesn't have any artefacts.

Too bad about the artefact that's been introduced by the upload/resize.

 

I can't really tell you why I like this one, I just do. Well done.
