henrimanguy 0 Posted November 9, 2004 I have past five days at Venice last month. I don't pretend to have make very original photos of this magnificent and very photographied town, I have just tried to make good photos in spite of the grey weather we had. This one is the first. Or rather the third version of the first cityscape I have shot. Thank you to rate and comment. Link to comment
ian cameron 0 Posted November 9, 2004 Hello Henri lovely colour combination in this shot but I wondered if perhaps the brick work at the top of the building was just starting to lose detail and burn out slightly. Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted November 9, 2004 Yes Ian, I think it is what you say. On the two other versions, the top of the photo is just above the second floor windows and there is not this overexposed part, but I don't like the composition as much as this one. Thank you for your rating and comment. Link to comment
peter_rymkiewicz 0 Posted November 11, 2004 I also agree that the brick is loosing a bit of detail in the top of the photo. I have done a quick version of some burning in PS... but since I wasn't there I don't really know what the colors were like. Nice photo by the way. Thanks Peter Link to comment
john falkenstine 1 Posted November 12, 2004 The problem #1 with this image is composition. Part of a wall, part of a boat, a corner wall, part of a wall on the r/h side. There's just too much "part" in this image. Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted November 12, 2004 Thank you for your comments. About the slight overexposure of the top, Yesterday I have look the original scan on my personnal computer (a MacIntosh, not the one where I connect on Photo.net which is a PC), and this one is like the peter's version. The transfer of my photos on the PC brings more brightness in the high levels (or the contrary, the high levels are less high on my personnal screen). I have to touch up again all the photos I load up on photo.net and it is not easy to do it in the best way. John. Is it really a problem ? After all, this is just a part of Venice. Link to comment
john falkenstine 1 Posted November 13, 2004 H. Its a common scene found on photo.net, presented at various levels of exposure...My viewpoint on the image is that there's TOO much in the image at once. Link to comment
xavier_maessen 0 Posted November 21, 2004 Henry, about the colors, this is how the same place looks in august... I wonder if it is the same boat that shows up on both photographs (mine was shot in 2003). Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted November 24, 2004 Xavier, thank you for loading your version. It seems to be the same boat. Link to comment
monique_masselot 0 Posted January 7, 2005 celle-ci m'accroche plus que le pont des soupirs,mꭥ si les teintes semblent un peu pass饳 sp飩alement en haut vers la droite. La correction apport饠avec photoshop me semble un peu trop rouge Link to comment
