I like the placement of the woman in the frame. Given her apparent age, the hat is perfect for her. Nice facial details as well as a clever title.

Howard, I love it! The sparkly eyes are a nice contrast with the more subdued tones of the face. Great detail and nice placement.

Howard- She almost looks like Queen Elizabeth. What a fascinating lady, I love her hat. I like the sepia, but I love your HK effect. I like the crop on this on too, very eye catching.

Fantastic portrait. The positioning of the face to the right is very appealing and works well with the space on the left not to mention the toning. One of your best IMO.

lovely!.. nothing like the parasite's face at the back of those rare to find papers in my pocket :-))) but then this looks so real and human, great title as well, capturing the intelligent spark in the eyes and allowing a subtle sarcastic question about the object at the left... do people who wear hats and pens at the same time are abit more mysterious and rather subversive than usual?.. probably...

Howard,

I love this image, particularly the soft eyes and the placement of the image in the frame. Very very nice.

As a prop, the pen is useless here IMO. Her personality is strong enough to stand as a portrait. The pen threfore bothers me because is distracting my attention from her.

Well seen, anyway!

This was not shot in a studio. It is a candid photo shot at an Apple Festival. I asked the nice lady if I could take her picture and she said yes. I didn't say take the pen out of your ear. THAT'S WHO SHE IS WHEN SHE'S WORKING!

She looks a lot like the look alike of the Queen. That makes her a lookalike of a lookalike...original.

Great portrait. Good skin tones and a sparkle in the eyes. I am not sure but I think cropping the left side of the face in the middle of the cheek was not a very good idea or may be I am a little old fashioned. This crop indeed gives it very original look..... Nice work. Regards.

I understand your concern of leaving her 'natural', 'as she is when she is working' but, since in your portrait you show just her head, without any other context, the pen is irrelevant, it cannot tell, by itself, who she is, when she is working. I think that this is a very good portrait because of who she is as a character, as personality, and you captured that very well. Therefore, PS can help us to see her better. Regards.
