Detail of the grafitti on a fresco at San Zeno

I'm always suspicous about just taking a picture of a picture. Is it

art when you just photograph someone else's work? In this case, this

is a detail of one face and some graffiti from a much larger fresco.

I attached a file here so you can see the original. I've always

liked this picture but never felt like it was "mine." On the other

hand, if one just takes a shot of a pretty waterfall, is that just

copying something also?

BTW, this is from a beautiful ramanesque Italian church in Verona

and all of the grafitti was scratched in over the centuries by

German "visitors." Most of the grafitti is older than the US.
