gooseberry 0 Posted November 4, 2004 Well, not really; she isn't into substance abuse, nor was she under the influence of any narcotic. It's just one of these weird pictures where unintentionally but literally you capture the blink of an eye itself. Nonetheless, thought this portrait could pretend to be a part of a photojournalistic story on drug addicts. Link to comment
studio_eyeworks 0 Posted November 4, 2004 Great image! Please tell me this a friend of yours due to the implication of drug addiction. Link to comment
billangel 9,671 Posted November 6, 2004 You state:"...this portrait could pretend to be a part of a photojournalistic story on drug addicts." My impression is that one could also protend that this portrait was part of a photojournalistic story on Transvestitism. There is, I think, a sexually androgonous aspect to the image. Or how about a photojournalistic story on "Drag Queens on Drugs"? Link to comment
gooseberry 0 Posted November 8, 2004 The transsexual (as opposed to transvestite) person is featured in this folder only, and that's not her. For more "normal" pictures of this girl, see the folder this picture is in.BTW, can't figure out where you could find any traces of hermaphroditism in her: she's as womanly as it gets, in every aspect, both psychologically and physically. Suspecting her of being a drag queen is nothing short of funny :) Link to comment
billangel 9,671 Posted November 8, 2004 You state: "...she's as womanly as it gets, in every aspect, both psychologically and physically..." My posting was meant to convey my response to this particular image only. Obviously I don't know the person depicted in the image, nor did I check your portfolio to see if there are other images of this person that would provide a fuller artistic depiction of her character. You also state that your artistic interest in this image was what this portrait could pretend to depict (a drug addict), rather than what it actually depicts. I was just supplying an additional suggestion as to what the image could pretend to depict. Link to comment
gooseberry 0 Posted November 9, 2004 Don't get me wrong, Bill: while I was guessing where you were coming from (as you've just confirmed), I still found that amusing. I also do realise that I know her too well to really see what's on the picture: I see what I know, not what appears there, if you know what I mean. This perhaps explains why: (1) your observation was humorous to me; and (2) I still fail to spot any signs of masculinity in her face.Anyway, how do you like the picture as a portrait of a [fake] drug addict, regardless whether straight heterosexual or otherwise? BTW, the "Drag Queen on Drugs" title you came up with would be really cool! Link to comment
billangel 9,671 Posted November 9, 2004 Re: "...how do you like the picture as a portrait of a [fake] drug addict..." I think that it works very well in that context. If one does an "altavista" Web search to locate images of people suffering from drug addition, one finds images that are similar to this in terms of the "spaced out" expression in the subject's eyes.
