salvatore.mele 1 Posted November 2, 2004 I liked the way the climber looks like a tiny red spot, exposed to themajesty of nature. By the way, this is an impressive glacier snout onSpitzberg island, a thousand kilometers from the North pole, divingstraight into the sea water.Does the picture convey any of those emotions? Is the red not redenough? Problems of the little light I had a midnight...A shot with more light and a different perspective is here Link to comment
derek_prinsloo 0 Posted November 2, 2004 For some reason my eye is immediately drawn to the cavern right at the water's edge. The circular shape with the piece in the middle sucks the attention in. This however, makes spotting the climber a neat "discovery". Other than the swinging axe, it's tough to tell that it's a climber on the wall. To me, the red is not bright enough to really draw attention to itself either. Sounds like it was really tough light, though. On a personal note, this looks like it was an amazing trip!! I am quite jealous... :) Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Where, where? I also was immediately drawn to the cavern. The climber is partially hidden so the red spot looks like another crevice of sorts. Perhaps another angle shot further to the left will show more of it to give dimension to the image. You go to the most deserted places Salvatore. (",) Link to comment
sef1664877429 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Have to agree with the others on this, the red just isn't powerful enough ...after looking at this a while, I've spotted a ghostly figure watching the climber, just above and to the right of the cavern, walking down the slope cut into the icewall. Almost looks like the Grim Reaper... a nice link to the axe in mid-swing. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted November 3, 2004 A crop of the ghost, with the maximum I could forensically get out of the scan... Link to comment
chris pastella 0 Posted November 6, 2004 No red spot to see on my screen, Sal'. Must be the ujnfortunate calibration of the colors on my old laptop. So in my view the subject is a bit too small and there are probably not enought features or contrasts that make the ice really interesting as such. Nevertheless I am thrilled by your northern captures. So I'll be back ! chris. Link to comment
