broads 0 Posted November 2, 2004 Very Nice, Although the mill house seems to stand out a little more than the trees? Lovely composition though. Link to comment
ivar olsen 0 Posted November 2, 2004 Ahh Sondra how I envy you this place!!! It's fantastic! ;-)) IMHO... I wish you had cropped slightly tighter at the top. The sky adds nothing to the picture. Also I would have darkened slightly. I attached an example of what I mean. Please let me know ASAP if you don't like me to...and I will remove it at once. :-)) Best regards, ivar :-)) PS! Best of luck with your election today! :-) Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted November 2, 2004 I agree with the cropping of the tree somewhat, but the mill was the light bleached wood. Your suggestion was good. Others will comment on the two photos. Thanks, Sondra Link to comment
anish 0 Posted November 2, 2004 Ivar,Your crop is nice, but the darkening altogether changed the mood of the picture. There is nothing objectionable about the darker version, but my guess is that when Sondra shot this picture, she liked the soft lighting in the scene. Sometimes, a bit of PS work can accent an image, but I disagree with using PS to altogether change the feel of a picture. -Anish Link to comment
harlow_b._staley 0 Posted November 2, 2004 I agree with the cropping. I wish the whole building showed in the reflection. As to the darkening, there is nothing wrong with two versions of a picture (or three). Both work. Link to comment
ivar olsen 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Anish: I don't disagree at all! :-)) The beauty is that we all have our own way of seeing, and like I said... I envy having access to this magnificent place! Now I will come over to have a look at your portfolio. ;-)) Cheers! Ivar Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted November 3, 2004 Beautiful still feeling (not retained in Ivar's version imo which aims more for drama). Have you seen Jim Mcconnells shots of this mill? Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted November 3, 2004 I have seen Jim's version and I have a similar one. Just haven't put it on PN yet. Jim's photo lead me to the mill, a beautiful place. Sondra Link to comment
jmcconnell2 0 Posted December 1, 2004 Hello again Sondra, I just today found these Mabry Mill photos by you. I think they are great! 7/7. The oldest pic in wy portfolio, is MABRY MILL FOGGY. I don`t think you have viewed it, it was taken just weeks after the mill was rebuilt. Look at the difference in the weathering in that picture, and in your two wonderful photos. Best regards, -Jim Link to comment
david_stevens 0 Posted January 9, 2005 Sondra-you did a wonderful job of photographing this fantastic old mill. I too have this mill in my portfolio and I always enjoy seeing well done shots of this place. Good work! Link to comment

harlow_b._staley 0 Posted September 15, 2005 I've just been looking through your most frequently rated photos. I'm envious. Makes me want to turn in my union card. Actually I'm buying a new camera for a Galapagos trip! I like this picture best. I want it blown up, framed, and hung on my wall. Did you accept the offer to sell your pictures? Link to comment
