LenMarriott 9 Posted November 2, 2004 Galina, A beautifully posed study of this bride. The backlighting is superb and her profile is placed against an undistracting background with her chin & far shoulder separated nicely. Use of the foliage above and the rocks below to frame her is an excellent technique though I would not have covered part of her gown with the foreground rock. An otherwise super effort. Best, LM. galina stepanova 0 Posted November 2, 2004 Jason: many thanks for your positive comments! Sure, I like "pro", but it just a little too much :))Len: Your detailed review of this shot is very valuable and really helps to understand. To be honest with you, this is incidental shot while walking through the park... This young beauty was waiting for professional photographer setting up his equipment. Charm of her "obedience" modest pose and beautiful environment gave me an idea of this "stolen" shot.My deep appreciations and best wishes, Galina Link to comment
d2f 0 Posted November 2, 2004 Nice but all the sharp and high contrast elements within the frame distract the eye and draw attention away from the point of interest and primary subject. You can use PS to blur out the areas and make the subject stand out. Also next time make sure there is something that your subject is looking at in the frame, in this case I see nothing significant on the ground. As a result the story is lost. Link to comment
galina stepanova 0 Posted November 2, 2004 I understand your points, Don, different and interesting! I should agree with distraction of high contrast elements and, probably, shorter DOF would be beneficial for the picture, but... I am a little disagreed with your opinion about her look... Very subjectively, maybe from female viewpoint, I found in her position and in her look down modesty, uncertainty maybe... the charm and attraction of shyness...I could be wrong so... I am happy you stopped by and my deep appreciations for your helpful and detailed review.Best wishes!Galina Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted November 3, 2004 Galina, My bet is the 'Pro' didn't get a shot superior to the one shown here. The serendipity factor fell in your favour that day for sure. Best, LM. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 3, 2004 Good photograph. Less depth of field as mentioned would enhance the photo (that's why they invented PS), but I agree with the artist, maybe she is looking within herself on this day and not out to catalogue her surroundings. Link to comment
michelguyot 0 Posted November 3, 2004 Hi, Galina! Very attractive at first sight, perfect quality, fine model and attitude. At second sight...still good, but with a doubt: what's your subject? The parc or the bride? The "natural framing" above distract the eye (unlike the rocks below, leading the eye to the bride). A thighter crop would probably be better... Kind regards, Michel (PS.- again a week with 14 or 15 hours work/day, short in time for PP and PN, sorry!) Link to comment
galina stepanova 0 Posted November 4, 2004 Len: pleased with your encouraging kindness!Bryan: I am glad you share my impression of scenery. Appreciate for your comments!Michel: first of all, I am glad you find a minute to look at this picture... As of my subject "park or bride?":... I think, bride in park. :)) You know, I value and always take into consideration your opinion, no matter if it coincides with mine or not... Many thanks and best wishes to you ALL! Link to comment
therese 0 Posted July 16, 2005 Esquisite, Framing creates the feeling that we are surreptitiously watching this bride in a moment of recollection as she walks slowly through the park Link to comment
