Hi!

Maybe the reflexion motive is very usual, but IMHO this is an outstanding example! I think it is very good composed and a uses the reflexion effect really good. Congratulations!!

Robert :)

Don i'm curious why the side angle of Louise here rather than the classic dead on shot, from the centre chatteau area, that shows the back ridge exclusivly. Its different from most in perspective and your lucky to get it that calm, usually canoes out there, its perfect. You have to wait a long time for this mirror water? Very nice.

There are so many shots of the famous Lake Louise in Banff National

Park. How does this compare to them? I notice that artifacting is

increased here but it's not that way normally. Thanks for taking

time for typed critiques!

Paul, I took this in the morning as the sun was coming up. I did take the classic shots from the center but I like this better because the sun was hitting the water, thus showing off more of the color than the center area did, which was still in the shadows. Also, the foreground underwater rocks are more visible from the side view. I was lucky for the wind to be so still. As you can see towards the back of the lake, it was already picking up so timing was of the essense. I just wish there were clouds/fog near the peak for a more dramatic appearance but you go with what you are given! It was about 5 minutes after shooting this that the wind was disrupting the stillness of the lake.

Thanks for all your complements - I miss the place already!

Very nice and peaceful - great reflections. The colour seems a touch off though - like there's a slight red shift... the saturation in the mountains looks dis-proportional to that of the water - like you increased the reds to enhance the cliffs at the cost of the blues in the lake. Or did you enhance the saturation in the mountains but not the lake? This may have contributed to the artifacts you noted, particularly in the blue shadowed areas. For online presentation, I also find a good degree of Unsharp Mask helps to compensate for blurring due to jpeg compression.

The underwater rock foreground manuever has worked well for you. I like the way the lakebed image fits into the notch in the reflected mountains. While it's hard to take a bad photo of Lake Louise in a nice day, this one is better than most. Excellent work.

Erik i may go take some bad ones. Thanks for explaining Don, makes sense, the rocks really do a lot for this pic.

Just GREAT. And apparently great timing, that bright line of ripples between mountain and lakes is just right.
