peter_jones16 0 Posted October 31, 2004 I agree, gorgeous. Such still water! The reflection is amazing, and the fall colors are perfect. Link to comment
poutnik 1 Posted October 31, 2004 nicely done, though a pity the building is cropped in middle... Crop it out completely... Jiri Link to comment

bryan olesen 0 Posted October 31, 2004 Ah, Karen, so you stole the colors from us in NE Ohio this year (lousy). Isn't it weird how the reflections in the water are always more saturated? I really like this - great work. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 1, 2004 Find the reflection too much to be believed really. Think its never the case naturally the reflection has more colour/brightness than the object itself...esspecially when digital's high point is not exactly reflection/refraction....but it is very pretty. karen_bee 0 Posted November 1, 2004 Thank you, everyone, for your very kind comments. This photo was not modified in any way, apart from Autobalance applied to the entire photo using Microsoft Photo Editor. The reflections are exactly as we saw them, which is what made the scene so amazing. So this is NOT a "Photoshopped" picture. You are right; the building on the right should be cropped. There is a story to this shot. My friend and I drove up from New Jersey to the Finger Lakes in NY for three days of photography. Unfortunately, the weather was absolutely atrocious, with a dense fog all three days, so we did not get much in terms of foliage shots. On the drive home, both of us very depressed at our wasted trip, and lack of success, we saw a sign that said ?Lakeview?, and decided to take a detour. Just then the light got slightly better. Unfortunately while attempting to park by the roadside, we ended up in a deep leaf-covered muddy ditch, and had to make several calls for help. We were eventually towed out by a Good Samaritan. A few minutes later, we took our shots of the lake. We are pleased that we did get some good foliage shots from what had initially appeared to be a wasted trip. The moral of this story? - seize every photo opportunity you get! Often what turns out best is not what you had planned. Thanks again! Karen Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 1, 2004 Guess you forgot to check the box then. See the confusion you cause?? lol..i'm sorry, just seemed too good to be true and the way its going these days its getting rare to see an actual photograph. Posted very generously too, and the detail in those trees on large is quite amazing for the distance. Great lens u have. I better upscale that 6/6 i gave it before, its even more beautiful now :) Link to comment
karen_bee 0 Posted November 1, 2004 Thank you, Paul, for your kind comments. It was an incredible sight. Fortunately, the picture conveys some of the majesty of nature that we experienced. We could only stand in awe and wonder at the lake edge as we observed the symphony of colors. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted November 1, 2004 Karen: This is a wonderful rendition of colors... almost unreal (although I believe it only because Yinka just shared with me the original slides). Truly outstanding (although I can't seem to show similar enthusiasm to Yinka's slides!). For those of you who are wondering who Yinka is ... well, he's my colleague at work. Another individual who has outstanding qualities. Wonder who the "other" individual is... well, its not me, anyway! So, how much did you spend pulling out the car from the ditch, and how long did it take? In all seriousness, this is a great shot. Keep 'em coming! regards, ananth Link to comment
