I cant recall, but probably shot at about 2000 of a second to freeze the water, Northern Resident Killer Whale, Canada.

the pic is shot with a 2.8/300mm on a Canon EOS 3. I shot a short exposure to freeze the water, shooting whales for years, I never got a shot with that much detail in the picture again. Provia 100 F.Check out my website with more whale pictures (and Dolphins).

This is one of my favourite Killer Whale Photos. I?m kind of specialized on Killer Whales. It

is my favourite because it shows the power and speed of the whale. Trying hard to repeat

that kind of shot - no hope. I realized that I was very lucky with that split second

oppertunity I had - and I?m happy that I was ready for the shot and had enough

knowledge about the Orcas to know what will happen.
