One of my most favorite jazz musicians of all time. I believe that Kinda Blue is still the most popular jazz album of all time. Did you know Miles was also a painter? I saw an exhibit of his here in Louisville a few years ago and was very impressed. Another example of that connection between the aural arts and the visual arts - a subject dear to me. Howard, your image is very well executed, creative, and has a great visual impact.

You people (i.e. KEN) are a fount of information!! And, Karen, the "tape player"? ;-) LOL!!

Interesting rendition of this image, Howard ... very blue!! I wonder ... were you looking for an image to convert to blue with the title in mind, or did you have this image that you were playing around with and ended up in blue and then the caption came to you? And, which came first ... the chicken or the egg? :-)

Good question. I visualized the image in blue first with the title and then made it happen. Not sure I understand how that worked. It just did.

This photo could easily pass for one of the classic Blue Note covers of the '60s. You are able to produce such a great image because of that creative gene that one or both of your parents fortunately passed along to you. And you took your potential and developed it with your hard work. That's what success is all about in virtually everything. Sorry for waxing so philosophically but that's my current mindset.

In the words of one of my first photography instructors, this image is definitely; "Very painterly!" I always thought it was interesting to note that in the early days of photography, critics placed a great value and emphasis on a photograph's ability to mimic a painting. A very impressionistic image in its quality! I feel like that may still be an appropriate stereotypic comparison in this instance. This image also has a block-print or etching quality to it. Although, my first response is in my subjective feelings about the color Blue, than to to the superb composition, this kind of image creation makes it easy to equate photography with true artistry and art.

I like the clarity of composition, the details ,and I think it will do very nicely as a cover for the Blues music...
