47 yrs ago, my father pointed out the Milky Way to me from "inside" the Birmingham, Al

city limits, and it was clear and bright. Today you have a hard time seeing the stars

themselves from 98% of the lower 48 states due to both light and air pollution. I was

amazed on a recent visit to HI at just how clean and clear the sky was. That prompted me

to try a "star trail" shot I had always wanted to do.

Very fine photo! Nicely composed, wich is not the easiest thing on shots like theese. How long was the exposure? Well done!!

Well done, these always look impressive. They tend to reverse our normal way of thinking, giving fixity to things here on earth, while the heavens above seem to be in constant flux.

Nice capture... though the composition I think leaves much to be desired. I'd place the North Star according to the rule of thirds, and find a different arrangement for the palms. The tree at bottom left is a huge distraction for me.

nostalgia & strong hope..that's how i describe shots with emotionl attachments. 47 yrs' promises behind this...marvellous! its all about intense & delicate feelings of nature. luv it.

My only recommendation would have been to reframe this before shooting to get the north star out from behind the palm tree. Other wise excellent exposure. The detail in the palm trees are great. Did you paint them or are they lit with ambient lighting?

Amazing. Though it is obviously a star trail photograph, I like how the palm trees share the importance in the photo, rather than simply being props. Great angle on the trees to. They lead you into the photo and up to the heavens. Congratulations!

I love this, when the night sky spins on a focal point if you leave the camera, this is many frames elapsed over time, the patience and precision is beautiful.
