Hello Chandra,

Do tell us a bit more. What were the group protesting about? OK I know it's a bit obvious, they are protesting against the war. But which dead to mourn, US, Iraqi or both? Why where they arrested? She doesn't look as if she was trying to start a riot.

It's a really good picture, subject, composition and in tonal range. It's always worth posting a little info with a photojournalist type picture.

Do post some more.

This "mourner" looks like a dangerous person, all right. You can just sense how she must hate our freedoms. And think of what she might be hiding under her robes, WMDs? Unfortunately, we're going to have many more opportunities to take this kind of street protest picture, if Shrubya, the tinhorn Texas tyrant, is re-elected.

Gareth,

They protested against war and the innocent civilians & police men killed in the war. I saw couple of people holding pictures of their loved ones being killed in IRAQ. It was a peaceful protest, but don't know why police men arrested them. Don't know the whole story. I have more pictures, and I'll upload them.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Chandra.

very very nice picture, amazing I would say, theatrical. The picture tells the story, it has the lady, the sign declares the reason she is there and that she is a protestant, it has the cops, a part of the white house also (so it tells also the place). Amazing photojournalism. But also because the timing and lighting is very good, like it was stage. The picture also has very good aesthetics.

This would appear to be straight out political speech, usually protected under the first amendment. Unless of course she was violating some other "time, place, manner" restriction which is content neutral. It is of course in front of the White House, a place susceptible to attack. At the same time, a logical place to protest the policies of an administration.

Nice capturing of this drama Chandra. Thankfully they didn't arrest you for photographing it as well.
