colecaj 0 Posted October 21, 2004 You must have been pretty close to get this detail from a 200 mm lens. I've never been able to get this with my equipment - I'm jealous. Link to comment
matt_brandon 0 Posted October 21, 2004 lot of blue tint in head, which should be white. Great shot though. Link to comment
jmcconnell2 0 Posted October 21, 2004 Beautiful BaldEagle, your shot is sharp, clear and well composed, congrats. 7/7 Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted October 21, 2004 Wow, Ken-the-raptor-king!! You really MUST have been close to this guy to have gotten such a great shot. How did you do it? Anyway ... love the detail that you have here. Great crop, too! I have some old bald eagle images in my portfolio. If you have time, I'd love to hear your thoughts! Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted October 22, 2004 Very nice. How did you get so close? Most certainley has a don't mess with me look in those eyes. Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted October 22, 2004 I was probably 20 feet away and had the zoom all the way out to 200mm. The nice thing about the higher resolution cameras is that you can crop out a closeup and then enlarge that to yield a good resolution on the crop. I just love this 20D. I skipped getting the 10D since they brought it out right after I got my D60. The 20D has 33% more resolution than the 10D and I just love the camera in many other ways too. Thanks for your comments. gaetanchevalier 5 Posted October 22, 2004 Very nice shot with superb colors and details. Good use of DOF, well done. Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted October 22, 2004 Makes me wanna jump the fence to 20D! Great clarity, sound compositioon, lovely bokeh, and removing the blue tint would be a plus. Nicely done! ^_^ Link to comment
gabriella_lucia 0 Posted October 22, 2004 First Ken, I am having a problem looking at that portrait for more than a few seconds. The picture however is great. Wonderful details, background and composition. Link to comment
gabriella_lucia 0 Posted October 22, 2004 Wow, I feel compelled to match you on that shot, so I will. Pretty bad that I even took this picture. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted October 22, 2004 Another wonderful image. The detail is enviable. Was this one of the captive birds? I think, if the sun shines today, I might just mosey that way. Beautiful DOF. Have to mention that I just received a long awaited book, "off the beaten path" and Bernheim is listed as a top place in KY to visit. Neat! Nice job on this! Peter- what the heck kind of picture is that you posted! LOL Link to comment
gabriella_lucia 0 Posted October 22, 2004 Jayme, it was in response to Ken's portrait dedicated to drive by raters. I wanted to show he is not the only one taking pictures of unpleasant scenes at local zoos. Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted October 23, 2004 Yes this is one of the captive birds. They also had a turkey vulture, an owl, and a red hawk. Not sure when they will next be displayed without being behind a fence. Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted October 23, 2004 Thanks for your support for my theme. I'm glad to see you explained yourself. Jayme might have thought you were some sort of sexual pervert! A little animal porn? Link to comment
bryan_willis 0 Posted October 23, 2004 Ken, I know Pete but please don't hold it against me. I like this photo. It is very sharp and well composed. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted October 23, 2004 I have a picture of an elephant (male) who was extremely well-endowed and I didn't even notice it when I took the shot. I was printing out some animal shots for my grandson and had to do some extensive cloning on that one! I won't post it here. Anyway... This one is just a little softer around the head than I would want it to be, but still very well done. These are such interesting birds. Link to comment
dennis jones 0 Posted October 24, 2004 Nice detail and color, Ken. Have you tried the Velvia out yet? BTW, is that the north end of the south bound rhino? Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted May 29, 2005 Wow! Ken, seems like your dedication worked. No 3/3s here. Nicely done. Link to comment
