atle.g 0 Posted October 20, 2004 I have reworked this shot. The scan is not too good in the bright area, have adjusted it closer to the scan than earlier version. But cropped off most of the foreground. Inputs are as always appreciated! Link to comment
kyang 0 Posted October 21, 2004 Atle, this is really nice work and I love your crop. The cloud is great and the composition is good too. My little nit would be that the middle zone( between the clouds) is a little too bright on my monitor. I know it might be another technique-tough shot. And overall is beautiful image. Link to comment
atle.g 0 Posted October 21, 2004 Thanks for the comments! ..Kurt, yes its to bright in that area, but this is the scan,.. scanned by a neaby photolab, the slide look good, An option is to rescan, but i have not made a desicion about that yet. Link to comment
kyang 0 Posted October 21, 2004 Atle, thanks for the explaination. I really wish you can do the scan job by yourself with great scanner. This past summer I bought the coolscan V, and I realize how critical the scan work could be. The good scan is really more faithful to original slide. Link to comment
atle.g 0 Posted October 21, 2004 Yes, a good scan is important, to avoid using time on tweaking. The question nowadys is; Bying a scanner or go digital, i kinda like slides so... perhaps going for both alternatives. Link to comment
sriram 0 Posted October 22, 2004 Great shot. Love the colours. Enjoyed reading the above comments...faced with the same issue...currently making do with a less expensive Digital camera. Have slides but no scanner and I keep thinking about buying the new coolscans. Link to comment
richard van hoesel 0 Posted October 23, 2004 Yes, nicely cropped indeed Atle - the balance is great, just not quite sure about the colour palette (could just be the scan issue you mentioned). I don't know about you but I can think of more enjoyable ways to spend time than messing around with scanners. Link to comment
harry eggens 0 Posted December 17, 2004 ....images you have in your portfolio Atle. It's hard for me to comment and rate them all at once, but I will do my best to rate and comment some of them......Splendid composition with really beautiful colors and light. The reflections are wonderful and I just love the clarity and contrast in this one. On my screen the lighter parts do have enough detail and so it looks very fine to me this way. You always will loose some brilliance in a scan, no mather wich scanner used, compared to the original slide....Best regards, Harry Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted March 6, 2005 One would imagine this kind of scenes to better work in landscape, but this portrait composition is very effective. I like the way we layer so many elements in alternating bands of colours. A well-crafted effect. Link to comment
