robertbrown 1 Posted October 20, 2004 Comments, ratings appreciated on clearcut. While I was shooting here a few days ago a local logger stopped to chat. He informed me what they'd be cutting this week. These trees were right on the edge of the clearcut and were scheduled to be cut. Link to comment

salvatore.mele 1 Posted October 20, 2004 This is an interesting shot, and an enjoyable viewing experience. I am attracted to it by the thin and bright white lines opposed to the black regions. At a further glance I realize that, to be so bright, these trees must have little or no branches so low on the ground. From the dark background and the straightness of the trees the feeling of being at the border of something which had been recently cleared is clearly conveyed. All this gives a sudden image of fragility to the trees which are there. All this already makes the picture, than, reading the story, tops it up. You really conveyed a message, at different levels, and I commend you for that. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 20, 2004 Bob, This is a tremendous addition to your clearcut series. You've already shot the the stumps and images of regrowth. This one completes the story. Graphically, the vertical lines against the dark recesses of the forest are wonderful. I like the subtle diagonal created by the foliage. You've managed to simplify a very busy scene making this a very compelling photo. When are you going to show this whole series as a group? Link to comment
