I had been photographing flies, wasps, hornets, etc. that are attracted to fruit that falls from trees on my property when I noticed a really tiny little fly (about 1mm wide by 3-4mm long). When I got the fly in my camara's viewfinder, I was delighted to see that it was a colorful fellow with the most interesting banded eyes. I don't know the species, but I am thinking it is in the Drosophilidae family.

I have been shooting bugs for 4 seasons and this season was the

first time I saw this critter. Can anyone help with the ID?

I don't know what he is, but he's very pretty! One of those little creatures we normally wouldn't even pay attention to until you came along. Thanks for another close view!

Amazing Mark, a terrific addition to your collection. The only nit I can come up with is slight softness in the leg on the left. I wonder if a little additional sharpening could work there?

Amazing shot and outstanding technique, Mark!! I must say that your work is big inspiration for me.

P.S. - I think that I found his brother :)

Cheers, allon.
