AaronFalkenberg 0 Posted October 15, 2004 Nice shot. What do you think about cropping some of the bottom, say, just before the rills begin? Link to comment
ian green 1 Posted October 15, 2004 imho letting some free space makes this photograph more interesting/original (considering the common desire to crop everything out) Link to comment
anish 0 Posted October 15, 2004 This is gorgeous. I would consider putting a little bit more space between the reflection of the mountain and the rock in the water. That part of the picture seems a little crowded to me. Otherwise, great idea, and great exposure. -Anish Link to comment
atle.g 0 Posted October 15, 2004 Lovely shot Dave!! Great mood in this shot. I might agree with the crop suggestion of a previous poster but works well as is. Regards! Link to comment

kslonaker 0 Posted October 16, 2004 I can almost feel the warmth from the sun. I like the curvy shapes and the great detail in the sand. Nice work again, Dave. Link to comment
kyang 0 Posted October 16, 2004 Great landscape and it is interesting to compare this to Kwan's one. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 16, 2004 Nice Dave but that reflection in the pool seems to sharp from the big rock...but most bothersome is this ray of sun is incongruent with the shadowing, sun position....Also the shadow of the big rock in front of pool...theres a water flow coming across it and it wipes out the rock shadow....first time i ever saw something like that. chriso 0 Posted October 16, 2004 the way this photo was executed/turned out seems magical or something like that, to me. very original composition. nice job. Link to comment
poutnik 1 Posted October 16, 2004 IMHO it's a great shot with really interesting composition. And I have to disagree with the wrongness of some elements orientation. For example the Paul G.'s ray is not a ray in my opinion, it's the edge of the small rock's shadow, if you look closely at the angles. I just believe this was not manipulated, and even if, it looks just natural... Jiri Link to comment
davea1 5 Posted October 16, 2004 A great composition with a contra-point of near-far. The sunset is a bonus that add a dynamic element to the photo. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 16, 2004 With all respect...look at the suns position and that rock. Now that sun/shadow line i pointed out above...what is the object causing that?...the rock edge is sloped. Its not even at the proper angle in realtion to the sun,,its 6 o'clock should be 5 o'clock. Now look at that huge rock...the shadow it casts..why doesn't that shadow go across the included attachment part?? Where i come from the only objects EXCLUDED from a shadow are self illuminated. (brightened to demonstrate) Link to comment
dave_k1 0 Posted October 16, 2004 I do appreciate your comments... but I have no idea what you are saying as far as the shadows go. This is the natural scene. There is a large embankment to the left, which may have added to the shadows. There is a creek that runs down the left side as well and the shadow from the big rock is cast on some of the water flowing into the ocean. This located south of Canon Beach a few miles. bw 0 Posted October 16, 2004 Lovely intricate balance of shadows and masses. Great framing - no crop required. Paul, I hope your paranoia is temporary. Link to comment
