adrianhinojosa 0 Posted October 22, 2004 Being a male, it took me a minute to find the "3rd hand". Okay bad humor... I'll get on with the critique... this image features beautifull lighting and I like the model featured against the course texture of the wall which is interesting but not remarkably distracting. The composition is also fantastic becuase you have the blacks starting on your left shifting to the midtones and lighter tones on the right. This creates a very pleasing side to side guidance for the eye to follow and the hand print on the wall has both symbolic and technical purpose. I disagree with the average ratings. I consider an average snapshot a 4. Good is something that shows a mastery of the basics of photography and reserve the 6 and 7's for images created by those who have a mastery of the basics and create emotions and feelings in their work. You show a mastery of lighting and composition and move into the next level of creating emotion, so I think this image deserves 7/7 because all the elements of photography are masterfully used in creating a very artistic and thoughtfull image.
