The sheep are great! I was surprised to see you used a Super Angulon 90mm for this. It looks a longer focal length to me. How do you like the Ebony? I use an old MPP for 5x4 which is tough as old boots and does what I want it to. It would be nice to have something prettier though!

Hi Colin,

as best my memory serves me I used a 90mm, but I may be wrong. I don't take notes and as the shutter on the 150mm is sluggish I tend not to use it, preferring to go o the 210mm. As it isn't 210mm nor my favourite 65mm when using the film back, I concluded it was the 90mm.

I love the Ebony. I had an MPP Mk 8 and then two Linhof Technikas. Neither allowed me to use LF as I wanted and I never exposed film. The results are the same, but I'm much more enthusiatic to take the Ebony with me as the No. 1 camera. That includes my motorcycle tours around the UK.

For me it's not about 'pretty' the Ebony is a 'pleasure' to use. On first seeing one it might be difficult to understand why owners like them, but the features become apparent in use. The asymetric tilts are fantastic and I don't regret scraping the cash together to pay the extra - focus, tilt, expose, done. No back and forth. Never use a dark cloth either, don't even carry one .Love it. Try one if you can.

I expect you are right about the 90mm. I have very much the same way of working out which lens I use. And the shutter on my 150 was unreliable for a long time till I got one with a decent Copal. I've not used assymetric tilts so can't compare but have heard a lot of good things about the feature. Sounds as though my dark cloth is the same as yours - non existent!

Given that even with the a. tilts it would still take a bit of time to set this up how did the sheep occur? Were they milling about the whole time or just interested in LF?

Yes, yes, a great image. The clouds, the sheeps, the sky through the church. A great composition. Excellent, I love it. Thanks for sharing.

I was stuggling to find the right spot with a foreground. The ground fell away steeply in front of the building and I didn't feel that any of the six spots were right. Then I heard a tractor and anticipated a "get off my property.." announcement. I moved the camera again and won the Fastest 5x4 Set-up of the Day competition, missed the leading sheep (digital would have captured them!), and caught the back end of the file and a smile from the farmer. Ah... so rewarding.

Thanks to all for commenting.

I love it. The sky is great, the building is perfectly exposed, and those sheep add a touch of excitement. Great job.
