bens 0 Posted October 12, 2004 i like this very, very much. a gentle, somber take on a serious person. terrific tones, interesting subject, nice clarity, great crop, this is special and i'm delighted to see it in your portfolio. some constructive criticism, cuz no one is perfect -- whites a drop blown out to the left and on the paper, if you can bring it down just a little (not too much now! the brightness adds rather than detracts here, as the light is clearly coming from that side and explains the light on his face). focus is best on the shoe for some reason. i know from experience its very hard to get the face right in a shot like this. consider focusing, if you didn't with one of the side focus spotters and not reframing -- i often make the mistake of focussing with the center point and then reframing, which gets me sometimes with the focus on things like a shoe instead of the face. regards, ben. richardw 0 Posted November 29, 2004 I like this one, it shows the concentration of the man and the tension at a horse race. the photo captures a whole story; more than a shot at the finish line. only critique point: the bench on the left reflects too much, just a slight structure would be nice. I like it more than the coloured version, the classic touch of toning fits better to the person. thanks for visiting my page - Richard Link to comment
