Autumn Waterfall

chris_venhaus

Took this one with my 10D yesterday morning. I shot the same spot years ago with my film cametra, and believe the digital nailed it even better.

Taken with my 10D yesterday morning. I think it holds up well with

the film-based image I took years ago... I don't think I'll be going

back to film any time soon...

Well, this one is truly good. For the first 5 second, my feeling is this one is as good as your great old version. However after couple mins., I may see the difference between the two. The old version seems to be more smooth and more subtle regarding to the color or the texture.

Great shot, Chris! Where in the UP is this? I can't quite put my finger on it. I like your color better here, but I think I prefer the overall texture and lighting of the other shot you posted with the A2E. Perhaps it's just the crop. Regardless, it's a remarkable capture well executed. Be sure to visit my recent Aurora folder!

Z falls in upper michigan peninsula. Shot so many times, is now a cliche. this shot is so generic now. i would have tried a different composition

beautiful shot with excellent colors. Steven about the size of a digital shot: you can make it as big as you want if you use special programs (like Genuine Fractals for example it goes till 600 times the original size)

How can anyone rate this as 2/2? It is a stunning shot by any criteria, perfectly composed and exposed, creative and visually beautiful.

Another of your excellent UP shots. Love the effect. You've been fortunate to be able to find days like this with no breeze to disturb the water. 7/6 --Rich

Thanks Christina. I've looked into Genuine Fractals somewhat, just havent seen any digital prints larger than 11x14 yet to thoroughly convince me. I've heard giant billboards can be made with it! I may just have to make the plunge to digital. Again, an outstanding image whichever medium was used. 7/6

This is one of the best water shots I've seen. The reflections are amazing.

This is visually striking in colour, composition and subject yet given a closer look, I do not like it as much as other viewers seem to! The slow shutter release isn't all that's making this image right? There appears to be a feel of digital manipulation that simply doesn't work for me.
