buck forester 0 Posted October 9, 2004 Hi! I took this on a recent backpacking trip into some remote areas in Kings Canyon National Park. I often enjoy the human element in a wilderness photo, so I had my hiking partner who was wearing a very bright red jacket go stand on the other side of the pond. This was taken with Velvia 50 in the morning. Does the photo work? (whatever that means, ha ha!) Any suggestions on composition or coloring? I used an 81B warming filter but being at such a high altitude and shooting with Velvia it still came out a bluish cast. Link to comment
lisah 0 Posted October 9, 2004 Works for me! I like the bluish cast in the background, gives more impact (in my opinion) to the foreground and your mate in the red jacket gives a good sense of perspective. Impressive place. Cheers Lisa Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted October 11, 2004 No suggestions on the composition, since I would have taken it exactly this way, and I like this kind of shots. As for coloring, the 81A seems a good thing to use in this case. Did you try the combo w/ polariser BTW? p.s. Without hiker, or without red jacket, it would have been much duller a postcard-shot. It's great to put people in for perspective, and even more so having them face the scenery: the viewer would think they are then seeing roughly what the person is seeing and this really works (whatever it means...), at least for me. buck forester 0 Posted October 12, 2004 Thanks for the comments! Yes, I took a series of this scene, with and without my buddy in there, with and without a polarizer (this is without here), and various zoom angles. Yes, I burned a few shots, ha ha! Link to comment

abintraphoto 0 Posted October 16, 2004 Everytime I see your bio pic I think - "Would you buy a Ferrari from this man?" ........... it's great. Since you ask - I would crop roughly 25% from the left side, moving the hiker more off-center ........ Can you desaturate just a bit from the blue channel (slider) ? ........... And it might have been nice to let him finish going to the bathroom before you captured his best side ... (-; Link to comment
