This old castle was originally built by the muslim local dinasty of teh Banu Razzin, rulers of nearby Albarrací®®They said that it was stormed by the christian warrior El Cid, in his way towards Valencia. Won by King Alfonso II was given to the Templars and later on to the Hospitalarians to become a Commandery of the Hospitalarians in 14th C. Its first commander was John Fernᮤez de Heredia who became Grand Master of the Order at Rhodes. Link to comment
