salvatore.mele 1 Posted October 7, 2004 Impressive seracs, pinnacles of ice, populate the ascent to the MontBlanc de Tacul, in the French Alps. This is taken at around3500m/11000ft. Originally itincluded also the shadow of my fellow climber, but following somesuggestions I cropped it down to a self-portrait.What do you think of it? Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted October 7, 2004 Incidentally, this is the location where the picture was taken, as seen from the mountain in front, where the day ended. Link to comment
sef1664877429 0 Posted October 7, 2004 Good, although I quite like the original as well, the way the shadow of the second climber matches the angle of the ridge( or whatever the technical name is). Gives it a certain surreal quality. Link to comment

robertbrown 1 Posted October 8, 2004 I like this one a lot, even with the over-polarized sky. This glacier/hunk of ice is just so monolithic and raw and you've captured it perfectly. Your shadow, small and human, only reinforces the massiveness of the ice. Great shot. Link to comment

alex rocchi 0 Posted October 9, 2004 Bella pero preferisco l'originalem dove il bianco del ghiaccio risalta di piu sullo sfondo blu del cielo. Ciao Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted October 10, 2004 Photographing one's shadow is not a terribly original idea, but the beauty and uniqueness of your location makes for a very impressive image. A captivating portrait of nature and man. Link to comment
peter_daalder 0 Posted October 10, 2004 I noticed that you have an earlier version posted in this Mont Blanc folder. The numbers stacked up quite nicely for that one, but I have to say that I definitely prefer this one. I would love to see this in print form, as opposed to the restrictive environment of the internet jpeg stuff. Link to comment
poutnik 1 Posted October 11, 2004 I like the composition, the crop, the idea of being there in the mountains. But I'm not sure if I like or dislike the silhouette on the snow... Jiri Link to comment
matthew leong 0 Posted October 24, 2004 I like this, just maybe better posing . The current pose looks abit normal, maybe a sideway shot with camera held on hip can be better. Just my opinion though nice shot nevertheless. Link to comment
pete church 0 Posted November 3, 2004 This reminds me of the stunning shots Herbert Ponting took of the ice formations in the antarctic on Scott's expedition. I love it Link to comment
