Very original and a strong effect. I suggest you remove from the title the explanation... If you look at it without knowing what it is, you get the impression of something animal, or possibly vegetal, which is big and coming for you. The impression is even more pronounced since you perceive a blurred repetition of the foreground pattern which tells you that there is more and a lot of it.

 

I think you've a good theme, here, to be followed and developed. As for the colours, what about non toned b&w ?

Salvatore, thanks again for your insightful comments. I will try some untoned versions, though I must admit to preferring heavy toning of this type of shot.
