alberto.conde 0 Posted October 4, 2004 Los Ares is a curious castle. It's not very ancient. Probably of the 15th C. Built in a secluded place, in the middle of a small depression, it doesn't dominate any vista. The real vista is the castle's ruins themselves! Link to comment
angel_luis_hernandez 0 Posted October 4, 2004 Bonita foto Alberto, el cielo como siempre muy bueno, quizas el suelo no es muy adecuado para la foto. Saludos!! Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted October 4, 2004 I LOVE this, Alberto. The sky is fabulous, and you've got great detail in the foreground AND background. Nice work, as usual!! :-) Link to comment
carlos_castillejos 0 Posted October 6, 2004 Que luz!! El cielo impresionante y en mi humilde opinion las texturas y lineas del suelo le vienen muy bien. Me gusta mucho. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted October 6, 2004 Good use of foreground and sky to draw attention to the castle. Around that time in England castles became more like fortified homes rather than miltary strongholds. Was that the case in Spain too? Link to comment
roberto p 0 Posted October 7, 2004 Great composition with a wonderful sky! Another one of your great castle shots! Congrats again! Link to comment

alberto.conde 0 Posted October 7, 2004 In Spain at that time both cases existed though the residential type were rarer (in any case see an example here, located some 35 kms to the north of Madrid: El Real de Manzanares )But Los Ares was in the border between Aragon and Castille and the two kingdoms were fighting each other well until the second half of 15th C.Besides, they had the threat of the serfs who from time to time realised they were kind of abused... and reacted!
