markboyer 0 Posted October 3, 2004 I see this every evening around midnight as I'm walking the dogs. It always grabs me with a sense serenity and a little mystery. Please tell me what you think. Link to comment
tea man 0 Posted October 4, 2004 I think you made a potentially boring image an outstanding one. Well done. Link to comment
1000wordsphotography 0 Posted October 5, 2004 This is so simple, but so well done. REALLY nice. Link to comment
markboyer 0 Posted October 5, 2004 My thanks to you guys for your kind comments. They mean a lot. I'm truly a beginner here, having had this serious camera for only a couple of months. I really did nothing with photography before. All encouragement is rewarding. Link to comment
glphoto1 0 Posted October 5, 2004 I agree that it looks a little computer generated, but perhaps that just resize of the image or something. Did you use a flash? or is house that brightly illuminated by street lamps or moonlight? It is otherwise pretty cool and interesting. I think a little less light/exposure on the house might make the window stand out a bit more, add a little more warmth or mystery to it. The illumination on the outside of the house is cold, but doesn't contribute enough to the mood. Perhaps a more off-center composition? Has potential! Link to comment
markboyer 0 Posted October 5, 2004 There's no computer generation here, and I turned the flash off for the shot. I fiddled with off center (something I use a lot), but I didn't like the effect: the horizontal gutter seemed too prominent. I also fiddled with contrast to make the house a bit darker, but it just looked drab; maybe I'll play with it again. Link to comment

afterthoughts 0 Posted January 17, 2005 When an image looks like this image looks the maker has achieved a degree excellence that is far above the norm. Link to comment
oswegophoto 1 Posted February 3, 2005 This is way too good for a beginning operatic tenor, the equivalent of E above high C. As an amateur Guidance Counselor, I advise you to continue with photography, since you obviously have the eye for an image that says something loud and clear. (Oh, and when it works this well, don't sweat any broken "rules". Really good tenors never do.) Link to comment
markboyer 0 Posted February 3, 2005 My thanks to everyone for their kind and generous comments. They mean a great deal. I'm still a newbie, and this is the shot that I'm proudest of. It's gratifying to know that others see something in it. Link to comment
