Found outside a restaurant in Boston. The crack attracted me.

I like it but I think a little bit more contrast would be nice. But I like it, anyway...

A bit more contrast ? Something like a higher filternumber in the darkroom or an adaptation via PS. Interesting composition.

Actually the crack is very interesting. Starting at the root of a gear tooth and going to the notch of a keyway, classic path for material failure and indicating that the gear was either poorly made or overloaded.

I really, really like this. The contrast and lines are very nice.

Thanks for comments - interesting on request for more contrast. I think my eye(s) tend to like less contrast - and in general I err on too little - I was wondering if some would comment. I'll pump it up and see how it looks.

IMO the contrast is perfect as is.

It's just that I like contrast and I'd like to see something brighter in the picture. But I like it anyway because it surprised me and that's very good! It captured my attention this way... it worked :-)
