the sky is unfortunately blown out, but have you tried cropping out entirely? The square composition is pretty interesting, as it still includes the sky colors. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Seen on my monitor, nothing looks blown out. Maybe he means something different by that term. I like the atmosphere in this photo. How did you meter the scene?

@ all thank u for the comments and ratings

to see colours and darkness on a monitor is always difficult , cause most of us dont have the same adjustments

maybe some of u see the picture darker as it is?

colours are like i wanted them...i made the sky so dark, ...

i used 3 different layers out of a raw, a standard, a light and a dark one...made the sky and surounding darker and softer made the wooden "path" lighter and sharper...to deepen the atmosphere of the picture...

cropping the sky? no way...it would become a boring normal lakeview...i think, and i guess most people agree?

anyway...all different thoughts are always important for me...my pictures are not made only for me...they are made to be liked (and bought)by others..its important for mne to see diffferent points of view...

maybe next time i upload a picture with a soft warm sky... no dramatic storm comming up ;-)

I think as well that the sky should stay, and I like the colours and the mood of this image.

Why didn't you shot sligtly more from the left? I might have enjoyed the boat not being so close to the frame, and the jetty touching the bottom right corner...

Thank you for all the information, Andreas. I meant: Where did you point your light meter, or what method did you use to determine the correct exposure? But I see you combined images with different exposures, and I didn't think of that possibility.

@ Salvatore ...i think the way u told could be nice,....but i wanted the "jetty" in the middel (this time), the boat i didnt want so much at the side (my faughlt)

@Eric...it was 1 raw only...but i made different layers out of it...raw give me great possibilitys where i had to take several photos before...i messured on the jetty and checked if nothing elso becomes to dark or light

@all...ok as promised, here is a picture with a warm soft sky this time ;-9

a nightshot out of 2different raws in plenty layers:
