Thanks Becky. She (he) just got out of the water and is covered with duckweed. I suspect it's a female going back to the marsh to check on her nest. She caught me offguard. I was only about 15 feet away and on foot. Fortunately, she turned in the opposite direction from me.

The alligator crossed the road to eat the tourists on the other side! You were lucky she didn't have a taste for photographers that day! :)

 

Nice lighting and good capture. I probably would have been shaking with excitement and gotten only blurred shots.

Kim, the answer to the riddle is "to show the armadillo how to do it". When I first saw her I actually jumped up on a park bench which was nearby. I had never seen one move so quickly on land before. But then I became a bit gutsy when I saw her head out in the other direction.

A little more free space on the left to show where the fella is going, would have given the comp. more dynamics. Crop is too tight, or a wider lens preferred. The fella crossed the road to eat the digi camera which she knew would make the colors plasticky and unnatural.
