henrimanguy 0 Posted September 19, 2004 It had rain all the day. On the evening, we went to the coast and I took my camera. The sun had been hiden since the morning and I thought there would be not enough light to make good photos. Yet I took even though about fifteen photos of the waves crashing on the rocks, hoping a few would be interesting (there is no one interesting). And I finished my film, and I had no other film with me. And I saw on the horizon a large sunny spell which expanded quickly and moved near above the coast. Having a premonition of a magnificent light which would not take long to illuminate the seascape and knowing I would not bear toi see that without be able to take a photo (I had no more film have I said), I hurry up my wife and children to go. But before, I ask my wife to lend me her camera and took a photo of the overcast sky above the coast. Hardly had we started up, that I saw the fantastic vision of the coast suddenly illuminated by the low angled sun with the dark clouds above it. All the evening and the night I mulled over to have waste my last film and have not be abble to take only one photo of this fantastic seascape. The day after, at the same time, we went back at the same place. The weather was not sunny but there was not the same sky. I waited til half and height pm and the sun suddenly passed under the clouds and illuminated the coast like the eve. I took several photos. The clouds were not so dark nor so dense but I thought I could arrange that with PhotoShop. Here is the result. I am not sure it is so good that if I had took the real photo the day before, but what do you think of it ? Link to comment

mspanakis 0 Posted September 21, 2004 Beautiful seascape. I like the little houses at the horizon. When I see pictures like that, I imagine them featuring in a some sort of travel guide, geographical or cultural publication. Therefore, although I like your story, I would expect a text related to the place itself intreresting to the general public rather than to the photographer's professional experience. Having said that, I understand that the public here are photographers intersting in the circumstances of the shot and the technicalities. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted September 23, 2004 The light here is very good. You overcame the difficulties and made a beautiful image full of atmosphere. Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted September 23, 2004 Thank you for your comments. Manolis, about the place I can just say that it is a nice place, not too invaded by tourists, with nice beaches, nice seascapes, etc., all you need to spend pleasant hollydays. I would also like to add something, that is I am a bit disappointed by the ratings and the number of comments received by this photo. Perhaps it is not so good that I imagined. But when I compare it (and others of mines) with certain from other members wich get higher ratings or numerous comments and that I find not very good, there is something I can't understand. But... too bad... Link to comment

photos of hans koot 0 Posted October 9, 2004 The seascape is very good, agree with Carsten, good work. as a suggestion I think the distance can't be so bright with this sky, I imagine some darker parts here, and maybe in the foreground as well. Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted October 9, 2004 Perhaps are you right, Hans, but as I have said above, this is a stitching of two photos taken with one day between the one and the other, and I have basing myself for doing it on the real view I had the day before when the sun suddenly lighted up all the coast. Then, I can assure you, the distance was as bright as here. At this time (about nine P.M.), the sun was very low on the horizon. Link to comment
