"Phantom"

Hi Norman,

I like the photo because of how it reveals the body of formula, the shape. However it is not completely discovered because of the lightness above the formula. It maight be the case, that the original photo had too much of aperture for the skylight. It would be interesting to see the unmodified version of the photo. I also think that the amount of blur could be less and for sure it would not decrease the feel of motion. In general, I like this photo alot, however, I miss the light balance over the top and bottom, as well as more sharpness to emphasize the *body* of the car. Good positioning though!

Hi Norman! Thank you for posting the original photo. I havent been wrong - this photo is really great. I think you lightened the upper part because of the unsteady background, right :)? Maybe a bit of additional blur from the original photo on the upper part would be good, but the photo and car it self stands out very greatly along with the speed and motion.

Another thing I just thought would be interesting is to make the top darker and with some motion blur. Then the bolide with the red 'body' and white spots would stand out greatly. Just an idea.

 

I also wanted to say a very great thanks for commenting on my photos. I think that your motorsport photos (as well as others) are outstanding and there are lots of ideas regarding the positioning and framing I will try on my next session. Thank you once again!

 

I am an autocross driver myself, so this is the reason I have a lot of photos in the archive, which I have done during the races I do not participate.

See the attached photo with the darkened top of the photo. What do you think? Please note that this is just a rough edit :)

I see.. Thing is I wanted the car to have an etheral feel to it. Hence the name "Phantom" and secondly for Schumi's God-Like abilities behind the wheel of it. Thanks for the advice but it takes me away from where I was going with the defusion glow.

I understand! I probably missed the title a bit but anyway - I like the glory feel of Schumi and the particular framing of your version. This was just an idea as it appeared while I was examining your photo. Looking forward for new photos done by you. Best regards!

Thank you. I have been experimenting a lot with Photoshop, something I thought I never would have done by the way, and have found another way to convey my thoughts. Thanks again for your support and kind words.

I may be wrong, but I think Norman was going for one of his air show photos, with the vaccum air going over the wing of the car. When shooting auto racing, Norman gets into the "ZONE", and in the jet wash left behind, he carries us with him. I can see things and Norman takes me to the way I remember them, and that's talent. I think I hate Norman........just kiddin...
