salvatore.mele 1 Posted September 14, 2004 In remote Svalbard islands, no authorisation to set foot on shore is given unless suitable weapons are carried. That's polar bear country and no risks can be taken. Luckly, we had no such encounters during our expedition, but learnt that takes a bit to become a good sentinel. Do you like the shot? Whould you have framed/cropped differently? Comments are appreciated, as always! Cheers, s. Link to comment

ron c sunshine coast, qld,a 0 Posted September 28, 2004 Very good angle and framing.Maybe next time use a slightly wide lens (35mm maybe).Get in closer so that the subject is the same size in the frame and abit lower so more of him is backed by the sky.Yeah i'm blabbering on abit. It's good as it is :) Link to comment
spike 0 Posted September 28, 2004 Great shot with a unique portrait subject, the rifle really makes this mountain shot a classic. Maybe it would be worth framing him a little more off-centre? Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted September 28, 2004 Thanks for having brought this in discussion! I had tought of framing (or cropping as last resort) more off centre. The problem is that since he looks to the right, he should be off-centred toward the left of the shot, and doing like this, the gun ends up too close to the frame and I dislike the final effect. The fact is that I tend to like the balance of the gun on one side and the look toward the other... Link to comment
