alecee 0 Posted September 14, 2004 Taken at Yosemite National Park. The smoke made light rays that seems so unique, especially in the shaded forest. Love the details on the dark areas. Link to comment

jayme 0 Posted September 14, 2004 As my husband would say, "This is such Americana". I particularly like the clothes line. As CHiPs mentioned, I like the sun light in the campfire smoke. The lighting is wonderful. Nice composition, as usual, and beautiful color. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted September 14, 2004 Well Jayme, Americana is new and pleasurable to envy over here - as the saying goes. "Looking forward to be part of the American Dream" Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted September 15, 2004 That's so nice to hear. Especially at a time in our history when every other country is uttering words of distain about the so called Americans. I can tell by your images, you seek out normal Americans. They're not hard to find, it's just they don't make sensational news too often. "Girl enjoying campfire", is just not sensational enough to make the New York Times or CBS news. We, as a whole, are a much kinder and gentler group of humans than most think. I think I'm pretty average, and I've never been mugged, never had a gun pointed at me, never been robbed of anything significant, and as a whole I feel pretty darn safe going just about anywhere I want to go. However, with this in mind, I do personally know 2 others who have been the victim of random acts of gun violence, leaving them with long lasting emotional and physical scars. Both acts were purpetrated by other Americans, not terrorists and both happened within the last 18 months. And oddly enough, both by someone they either knew well or casually. So what does that tell me? Not sure, but it makes me stop and think. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted September 15, 2004 Hi Jayme, domestic violence and victim amongst friends are common in any society. I guess it's human evolution since prehistoric times. Sometimes our animal instinct cannot be controlled. I am like you, fortunate enough not to encounter any mishap overseas and I have been to many troubled spots i.e. Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, India among the mixed Hindus and Muslim community. I have been warned to be careful and avoided hot spots whereever possible. If one doesn't invite trouble by flashing 'goodies' and blend in with the crowd then I guess it's the best way to travel. Hey! Sometimes it's nice to open up and talk like now. Nice to know someone like you who share opinions in PN. (",) Link to comment
