aepelbacher 0 Posted September 5, 2004 Donna!! Haven't seen much of you lately ... you've been missed!! This is an incredible image. I love pictures of eagles. The dark background really makes his head pop out. I love the markings on his beak ... the detail you've captured is incredible. Bravo!! Warm regards!! Link to comment

donnaalbers 0 Posted September 6, 2004 Hi Lou Ann, it's good to be back! Thank you everyone for your comments. I guess the best thing about taking this photo was being in close proximity to such a majestic bird with such a fierce expression and a powerful presence. Link to comment
bentes_world 0 Posted September 6, 2004 This is great. So sharp and so fine in the colors ... no blown out parts in the white .... congrats with this take. Link to comment

stevemarcus 0 Posted September 7, 2004 Wonderful eagle profile, Donna! If you took this shot were I think you took it, then I've seen this guy too. (-; Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted September 7, 2004 Hi Ken, I'm glad this guy wasn't 20 ft tall or I would probably be mincemeat standing this close to get a shot. Steve, I'm sure you've seen this fellow before. . . .I was really surprised to see him at the zoo. I couldn't believe I could get this close withoutnetting or cage bars obstructing the view. He is unable to fly. I think it was due to injury or a deformity although he his outward appearance is normal. I think, for me, it would be impossible to get this close to a bird of this size in the wild without using a blind. I know they occasionaly have eagles at Brazos Bend but I've never seen a head shot taken this close. Link to comment
peta 0 Posted September 7, 2004 I echo the above comments, really amazing detail Donna. You have presented this wonderful bird beautifully. Link to comment
bekster 0 Posted September 8, 2004 Donna, I am just astounded by this. Such a noble bird! He's dreaming about soaring above the water... Excellent photograph, you do return with a splash... ;) Keep em coming girlfriend! Link to comment
stevemarcus 0 Posted September 8, 2004 Donna, I wasn't going to mention the zoo, but since you did... Actually, a few months ago, I spent a good bit of time observing this eagle. It was pretty clear to me that its left wing was deformed (see above photo). I don't know whether this was the result of a birth defect or an injury. It certainly maintained a serious look (the eyes) the whole time I watched it--the same look you captured here so well. Link to comment
