beautiful image..perhaps could have been cropped sightly differently due to the directional nature of the sculpture in the centre (more space on the left??)

Its good this is titled ice mushroom i thought it was an iceburg reflected in the water but that somehow didn't make sense.

Was a bit curious about the texture and that object dead centre which seems non concruent, so zoomed it a bit and dissapointment set in. That texture is actually pixelation. The lens used is a Nikon ED 80-200. Have shot 20000 pics or more with one so know its qualities. To see raw pixelation on a POW without even zooming seems ludacrist...the mushroom object lacks DOF ....is this an extremely low rez rendition of this picture that we are seeing here?

Its a unique scene yes...just the perfect hue and tone contrast to amplify the main object...stuck dead centre....As posted we seem to be missing so much in the translucent qualities of the showcase object. Given the equipment used i feel we have been given the Wallmart version here. 4/6

Great image. The only thing I dont' get from it is a sense of scale. I can't tell if it's an iceberg or an ice cube. Great image though and congrats on the POW.

Great colours, light, subject and composition.

I don't understand why people always have a problem with something being in the dead-centre. Sometimes it works - sometimes it doesn't - I think it does here. People that always follow 'rules' tend to make very boring and predictable photos.

Great shot!

Nice photo!!

As mentioned before, the only thing I found lacking, is any "sense of size".

Based on the background, it seems like a HUGE iceberg!

But if I look at the "water droplets" kind of texture on the center piece, it looks like a small piece of ice in a jug or something like that!

Centered works for this one - I'm in agreement that rules are made to be broken. I like the lighting and textures. I would be very proud if this was my image. Congrats on POW.

Do agree with you there Nick and to be able to break rules and get away with it is where creativity comes to life. Part of why i thought a 6 for originality. Would like to say 6.7 but can't.

This picture "is stuck dead centre " was the statement, and it implied it was a positive attribute that amplifies the "jump out at ya" effect....I think by looking at the Nikon instructions that came with this camera, they must be referring to "snapshots"?...ya, those rules are for the general public, not us "photoartists"....saw a real good centred portrait other day and commented on why it worked.
