maria conversano 0 Posted September 1, 2004 Very nice composition and colors. Great sky. I love this warm golden tone. Link to comment
jmontgomery 0 Posted September 1, 2004 Good sky and color! IMO the dirt on the roots is not that attractive. Did you have other shots that placed the tree differently in the foreground and that may have avoided the dirt on the roots? Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted October 2, 2004 The dirt in the roots is part of the life-cycle of trees in the nature. This is a dead tree -too bad for it- and the soil reminds us of that. I like it and I like it in the foreground. Another incetersting element in the composition are the clouds which balance the rest of the picture, although the first large cloud from the left is too close to the frame and a few pixels of blue sky there would have been a good way to make me breath a bit. The single thing I would have changed in the field -unless you did intentionally- is that branch which goes into the sky. I would have kept all of the tree with the background of the mountain. In this way the mountains connects us to the sky. As it is now, it seems that the tree dominates the shot to the point that I follow it, end in that branch and find myself in the thick of the sky and cloud... almost not realising there was a mountain there... So, was it intentional in that this was your expected effect? Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted October 5, 2004 Maria, J, and Salvatore, thanks for all of your comments. Salvatore, you're right about the branch reaching up to the sky--it really doesn't belong. I was attracted to this scene because of the dead tree, the blue sky, and the golden grass, as well as the whole life death this. By the way, the mountain is fairly tall, a little over 9000 feet. Thanks again for your thoughtful critique. Link to comment
