ken krueger 0 Posted August 30, 2004 Very nice, but I'd crop the top about 1/3 above the horizon. Link to comment
david robinson 0 Posted August 30, 2004 These patterns while interesting are not quite as pleasing somehow as others you have shot. The sky too lacks your usual drama. Link to comment
schneekranich 0 Posted September 1, 2004 I like the forms of the snow and in contrast the soft merging-colours in the sky. In this one the small wood in the back seems a bit forlorn. Maybe this is not the most breath-taking-one from your "verticals", but: we are so spoilt from your pictures and looking at all of them in a series it has it's place! Link to comment
eric_fredine 0 Posted September 2, 2004 Thanks everyone. David - This is definitely less dramatic - but then it is intended to be a different kind of image. I have observed that subdued and understated images don't fair as well in the online world (not just my images either...). Not sure that makes them 'better or worse' in and of itself (not saying this is better or worse pre se, but I think it's an interesting question...) Andrea - The stand of trees on the horizon is an island. I like that you find it forlorn. I think I want this image to feel cold (it certainly was!) and lonely with a subdued sort of beauty in spite of this. Thanks, Eric Link to comment
sef1664877429 0 Posted September 3, 2004 I've held out commenting on this one because, as you say, its not immediate as some of your others. I wanted to see if it would grow on me, and it has. Online, the more obvious, dramatic pictures do seem to be more popular. I guess its the sheer number of them that causes that. This picture is more subtle. At first, I thought I would like it better without the islands at either side, but thinking about it more, they help the balance, and 'spread' the composition out, aiding the feeling of calm.
