I like the other better ... only because of the expression. Is this little guy there with you right now ... working as a guinea pig? :-)

The effect is STILL very cool ... and I'm going to need to print out and re-examine your explanation, as it does not make sense to me upon first reading. Hmmmm....

The combination of his look, and the white effect really scares me! I'm sorry, but I just can't shake a horror movie preview from my head! Having said that, obviously the image communicates very strongly, regardless of your original intention, and in my book, that's a successful image.

It's kind of like drawing. I took the basic image, changed to B&W, and then through a painstaking process, elevated the skin tones to almost white, and at the same time painted back in the highlights I felt needed to be there. And finally, I painted in the shadows. It's about as close to pencil drawing as I can get, using the actual photo as a base guide. A learning experience with layer masks and painting. My daughter-in-law, who's a graphic artist, just showed me something that will help immensely to ease the pain & time associated with this. I'm going to try it out tommorrow.

I agree with one other critiquer...this really does look like a horror movie kind of shot! in which case the title doesn't quite fit...but i do find it to be quite a frightening expression along with the incredible contrast of the eyes! I love it!

You boys are way too funny! LOL Actually, he is imitating a look I give, you know the one, that one your mother gave you when you were about to do something wrong! He calls it "NaNa's funny face" LOL. And believe me, if the warning wasn't heeded the result could be holy terror! LOL!!!!!So.... the title should be "Show me NaNa's funny face". It is scary, meant to be! LOL

Coming from you that is such a compliment! I am honored! Not that I don't appreciate every single comment both good and bad, I really do! It's the only way to learn!
