robidooo 0 Posted August 28, 2004 I like it, beside perhaps the lock of hair beside the nose of the model. Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted August 28, 2004 Some more of the dodge and burn technique that is really appealing. I love this pic! Really nice placement of the subject and the black and white presentation is really good for the subject matter. I think the lock of hair really adds. Your portraits spur me to explore something I've not really pursued. Link to comment

jayme 0 Posted August 28, 2004 Another really neat image. Now it's time to fess up and tell us how you are doing this! I really love the effect and enquiring minds want to know! At least mine anyway! I like the lock of hair, adds panache. The eyes, hat and smile are electric! Wonderful job! All three are winners! Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted August 28, 2004 I agree with all of the above. This dodge & burn effect with the B&W shots to achieve high contrast is working quite well for you, Howard!! Would you mind uploading a couple of attachments to show some of the process that you're using? Like maybe the original color image, the B&W version, and then maybe only part of it dodged and/or burned? In regards to the portraiture, you're doing some fabulous work. The lock of hair could be distracting, but I really like it because it makes the shot look like she's outside on a breezy day. You've really captured another wonderful expression. Gosh ... how DO you do that!? Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted August 29, 2004 Great effect on this one, too. Her eyes sparkle! Great detail again. You're onto something really interesting, Howard. Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted August 29, 2004 Looks like a classic, Howard. Really like how the black & white gives the perception of even more sharpness to her eyes. Smashing, mate! Link to comment
