mauro1 0 Posted August 27, 2004 Like this, a little bit unusual shoot of a common subject. Nice portrait. Link to comment

broads 0 Posted August 27, 2004 I normally turn off to pet shots, but this is great. The framing and positioning works. Not to mention the vinagarette.. now how do you spell that word.. I presume you also used an artistic filter of some sort? Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted August 27, 2004 Mark, no filter. Turned color to B&W and used burn and dodge tools. HJD Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted August 27, 2004 I Like I Like! Maybe we can fix up Paco and this puddy tat.... Link to comment
r_e 0 Posted August 27, 2004 Whats going on? A cat meeting? I love this "Duerer"-like way! Very impressive! RE Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted August 28, 2004 I think you've hit on something here. I love this high contrast stuff. This is wonderful. The eyes are so sharp! And the detail, wonderful! So are we having fun yet!!!!! LOL Nice job! Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted August 28, 2004 Love it, especially the burn and dodge touch. How creative and what a nice effect! Link to comment
gabriella_lucia 0 Posted August 28, 2004 Talk about one cool cat. This is sharp! Great job Howard. Link to comment
pawel_stradowski 0 Posted August 28, 2004 Perfect sharpness, perfect softness and blur, great contrast, but..... one thing that bothers me is the left ear. IMHO the photo should be cropped more carefully to include the entire ear or should be cropped to show that the choice was intended and not accidental Cheers Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted August 28, 2004 Okay ... who invited him? (Just kidding, Pawel!!) Actually, I didn't notice the ear until he mentioned it, but now that I see it, it's a bit of a distraction. Intentional? Anyway ... what I was GOING to say before I read the thread is pretty much what Mark Elford said. I am not at all into pet pictures ... but this is great. I love the effects that you used. The detail in the eyes (as noted) is great, and I think you've gotten quite a candid "expression" (do cat's even HAVE expressions?) Nice work!! Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted August 28, 2004 The portrait is beautiful Howard, as is the cat. Catchlight and sharpness are perfect. But I agree about the ear - noticed it straight off so call me miss picky. I wonder, if you didn't use the black border to point it out, whether it would be noticeable. Or you could use the same effect as the rest of the edge. And yes, LouAnn, cats do have expressions. They say "I'm the boss and you'll do as I say" Link to comment
leonking 0 Posted August 29, 2004 This is a really great portrait of a cat! Just lovely! Maybe I would colorize the eyes... Link to comment
andrea_lacota 0 Posted August 29, 2004 I like very much this image and the ps effect. Watch my portfolio if you can thanks!!! Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted August 29, 2004 Congratulations, Howard! Great transformation. This is a great personalization of your work. It definitely has the feel of pencil drawing portrait. Looks like all the experimentations had paid off! Very well done. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 30, 2004 This is very straightforward and beautifully done. Reminds me very much of a photo that was taken of my cat "Sam" by a professional photographer that had been in the business his lifetime. The photoshop techniques used here are very, very nice, and the overall image is quite good. My congratulations! Link to comment
harnstrom1 0 Posted August 30, 2004 Often when you do it for fun it becomes the best. Congratulations. 7/7 Link to comment
dave_nitsche 0 Posted August 30, 2004 Howard, might be the only cat shot I have ever commented on. This is wonderful. Link to comment
