John Crowe 165 Posted August 26, 2004 My extremely sharp Kodachrome 25 slides leave me wanting a more current slide/film scanner. This scan has lost much of the shadow and highlight detail, although the colours have survived reasonably well. One of the sharpest auto racing images I have. On the slide the website on the front of the helmet is clearly legible. Let me know what you think anyway! Link to comment
paul_m._woods 0 Posted August 26, 2004 Yes, the loss of detail is unfortunate - it seems a touch overexposed, but I guess this is, as you say, an artefact of the scanning. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted August 27, 2004 Does your scanner have a setting for Kodachrome? The Nikon Coolscan IV does and it makes a significant difference in the quality of scanned slides if it's not set to Kodachrome. Link to comment
John Crowe 165 Posted August 27, 2004 Hi Fred! No my antique (5 years old) scanner is pretty bare bones. Does okay with Velvia and E100VS and negative films. I'll keep my eye out for a used upgrade. In the mean time it provides an effective way to communicate here and I am slowly learning the ins and outs of digital imaging principles and PS techniques. Take care. Link to comment
tim_adams 0 Posted August 28, 2004 This is a great shot, too bad the scanner could not pull out the detail. It just looks too overexsposed now. Link to comment
