schneekranich 0 Posted August 20, 2004 what a wonderful picture of mouvement in the front and dark clarity in the sky! Excellent colours. The only thought would maybe cropping at the bottom, I'm not sure though..7/6 Link to comment
wim.ipenburg 0 Posted August 20, 2004 Eric, I think there is something wrong asthetics. Maybe the horizon got a bit downside so you get more of that beautyful sky, or the picture must a bit wider IMHO. Altough, you get 6/6 from me now, but you have the elements here for making a lot of sevens (when everyting is in ballance!!) Go on making such pictures, I love them! pdoyle 0 Posted August 20, 2004 One must feel very exposed to nature's whims when standing on a flat, featureless plain such as this! The grasses in the foreground convey the feeling of the wind whipping along, with the clouds in the background reaching down to soak the earth. Certainly more centered and symmetric than the average landscape photo, with the centered clump of grass and the centered stormcloud, but I can't decide if that's a drawback... Link to comment
russelld 0 Posted August 20, 2004 I couldn't disagree more with the previous comment. I think the long foreground is what really makes this photo. Great photo. Link to comment
sef1664877429 0 Posted August 21, 2004 GRRR, I have to hate you. Been trying similar shots, myself, but they never worked. The movement just turned out a mess, but here it works. There's nothing that needs done to this. The way the clumps of grass lead to the cloud that's touching the horizon... Link to comment
eric_fredine 0 Posted August 21, 2004 Thanks folks. Philip - this is on the shore of a very large slough so it is a vast, flat area. So yes, one does feel very small and exposed. Stephen - having been disappointed with this kind of shot myself in the past I opted for a very fast shutter speed (1/800 @ f/8). This is taken in mid-afternoon so there was lots of light available. Thanks, Eric Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted August 22, 2004 Stunning, very artistic use of super wide perspective and motion blur, dramatic sky. Full frame + 16-35, great combo. I`m surprised at motion blur @ 1/800 sec, must have been quite stormy Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted August 23, 2004 Beautiful capture of the wind blown grass. Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted August 23, 2004 Eric, wonderful capture! I love the blur effect on the bushes. Your, "normally aspirated" color scheme works perfectly here. Congrats. ^_^ Link to comment
mclaine 0 Posted September 20, 2004 It must have been an incredible wind, to have that much motion at 1/800 second! I'm assuming strong legs on both the tripod and the photographer. It's a beautiful result, thanks for sharing. Link to comment
