I like this very much Hanna with two a's ...... B&W so you know I would.

What are your thoughts on leaving the leaf in the upper left corner ?

Thankyou Francis, Ken and L. for commenting. Now, about the leaf Ken. My thoughts are that, aesthetically, it balances the flower. And, being the plant addict you know I am, that flowers need their leaves to survive. So I'm inclined to leave it, but you might very well be right. So here's one for you and L. Let me know what you think.

Hanna, I like your version without the leaf better. If you would further remove the tiny little leaf at top as well, it'll be even better, I think. Great flower collection you have. My favorite is the color version due to its composition. ^_^

I like the one with leaf. it does balance the head of the flower- as if it wasnt there to hold it back it would just fall into the negative space below.

textures of the petals is nicely captured. makes me think of Lou's rose.

Knicki, your ESP is great - we're thinking exactly the same thing about the leaf. Think of it as a fig leaf, there for support.

Nice tones & lighting. Count me in as one for the leaf. It seems to anchor the rest of the flower, and spice up the image somehow. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but so many flower pic's have perfect symetry and balance. This gives it a little more originality. Nice shot.

I just think it's superb, leaf or not...I thought I'd like it better with the leaf because of the reasons mentioned above, but after having seen the denuded version I too would like for that leaf to do like a tree and leave.

Dear Hanna

beautiful shot in both versions, this B&W is absolutely fantastic. I am particularly fond of Black and White and do believe that for flowers also, this is a fantastic technique, full of fascination and pathos. In the original version this sunflower colours are super under the black background but in this Black and White version there is a lot of poetry and a glimpse of melanchony

Very well done
